Alpaca Breeder Farm
My adventure with alpacas began when I first read about these wonderful animals in 1985. I stored the information in the back of my mind, until in August, 2003, when my husband and I were looking for property in Central Virginia. The realtor was taking us to view some very nice homes in Charlottesville, when suddenly I looked at both of them and said, “Where am I going to raise my alpacas?”
In 2004, I purchased my first alpaca, WGA She’s so Raven. That changed the dynamics of our house search, and several years later we purchased a 15 acre farm in Madison, Virginia.
I am still entrenched in corporate America, and plan to continue to work “full-time” until the end of 2012. In the meantime, my 9 alpacas and counting reside at Wool and Gray Alpacas in Flemington, New Jersey and Alpacas of Tranquility in Standardsville, Virginia. I have had a wonderful mentor, Yvette Kirilenko, owner of Wool and Gray Alpacas, and have attended numerous seminars and competitions. My animals have won ribbons for their fleeces and overall conformation. My goal is to continue to choose quality dams and herdsires for breeding, maintaining high fleece qualities and good health within my herd. I cannot wait to get myself and my alpacas to the Madison farm, where I’ll be able to enjoy and work with them on a daily basis.
