Inspiration Farm is currently a small farm, squeezed on a portion of
1-1/2 acres in a subdivision. We are a larger-farm wannabe, and
are
looking for more acreage. The point is, don't let a small property
keep you from starting in the alpaca business! The neighbors are
all
excited about the alpacas, and enjoy watching and visiting with
them.
We love the easy routine of caring for the animals, as well as some
chickens that give us tasty free-range eggs.
We believe the future of alpacas rests in the quality of the fiber, so
our
goals are developing fabulous Huacaya fiber with less than 25
microns
in grey or black. So far, our dams have given us hardy crias,
proving their reproductive vigor. It's always fun at the farm when the babies arrive! They are so
much
fun to watch, playing with each other, the dog, and the chickens.
National Alpaca Farm Days was a success, with people
commenting on
our little "Martha Stewart" property.
Kathleen spins, knits, and felts scarves. She offers classes on how
to
felt scarves. Kathleen also makes custom dog coats. Call us at the
farm, or visit us at our vendor booth, AlpacaCrafters, at alpaca
shows!
We are also the home of the nationally known "Paca Poo" Central
Band
Boosters Fundraiser! We are proud to say the Boosters earned
over
$1000 selling our manure. Jeff now has the title of "Veteran Poo
Peddler," a quip from one article.
