Hello, friends. We are William and Candace Frey of Hope Springs Farm Bed & Breakfast and Alpacas. In 1999, after years of entreprenuership in Charlotte and tired of the big city life, we sought refuge in the healing hills of Virginia's Blue Ridge Mountains. With a love for animals and a desire for a simpler way of life, we embarked on our journey.
The journey began with the purchase of a few acres of forgotten farm land. In our eyes it held promise, so with a bottle of champagne we christened it Hope Springs Farm.
In January 2002, while construction of the bed and breakfast was underway, we purchased 4 females from an eastern farm, Heart's Desire, and an additional 5 in June from Timberland Alpacas, a west coast farm. These included 1 full accoyo, 1 Hemingway daughter, 6 with Hemingway and accoyo bloodlines, and 1 full peruvian import. None of the animals themselves were elite, but we bred all of them to elite peruvian herdsires, i.e. El Moustachio, Felix, Franklin, Guerllmo and Mr. Miracle Whip. All have been stout mothers repeatedly producing high quality, healthy crias reflecting their good bloodlines delivering their crias with little or no assistance.
During this time of herd growth, we focused on developing a strong, healthy herd growing in knowledge of the industry. While we wish to make a profit, our first concern is the welfare of our herd. We breed each animal considering age, timing and other external factors to reduce risk and improve chances for successful births. We are not a cria mill. We do enjoy breeding and improving upon each generation. Our third generation of healthy, good-looking, way above average animals is ready for breeding this year. We're very proud of them. Although we do not often show our animals, the superior bloodlines in our animals is evident from the moment you walk on the farm. We invite everyone interested in these wonderful creatures to visit our farm and share the dream. Customers who buy Hope Springs Farm alpacas will find the same attention to detail and customer service we have strived for in everything we do whether operating a luxury B&B, a 4-star child development center, or an alpaca farm. We care about the welfare of the animals we raise, and care about the success of breeders who purchase animals from us. Since these obviously go hand-in-hand, customer satisfaction is a priority.
There comes a time in every dream when reality must be confronted. Because of age and health, that time has come for us. Even though it is time for us to move on,it could be an opportunity for you to begin or enhance your dream. Our entire herd is for sale. MAKE US AN OFFER on the whole herd of 17 males and 20 females or on individual animals, consisting 8 full Accoyos, 1 registered Hemiaccoyo, and 30 full Peruvians most half accoyo or better, 5 pregnant females, all registered and microchipped. Our animals are strong, healthy, and well fed (Southern States Norm Evans blend)with luscious fiber. They would make a great foundation herd for any enterprizing farmer.
Serious alpaca buyers are welcome to visit Hope Springs Farm which is located in Floyd County, Virginia in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Conveniently located on State Route 22l means roads are passable all year and easily accessed from Interstates 77 and 81.
