Alpaca Breeder Farm
Here at CrimpHaven Alpacas we breed for high quality, fine-fleeced huacaya alpacas in a variety of colors, to offer for sale at fair and reasonable prices, provide excellent follow up service and when needed, a wonderful place to agist your alpacas in a warm and friendly, healthy and safe environment.
Just starting out in the alpaca business? We can put together a package deal with great value that will help you establish a quality herd without breaking the bank.
Our intention is to remain a small-sized alpaca farm which we can manage ourselves, giving our full attention and best of care to our animals. CrimpHaven Alpacas is on 20 acres just 10 minutes West of the Virginia Horse Center (home of 2 alpaca shows per year) in historic Lexington, VA and minutes from a great alpaca vet. We built our "alpaca perfect" barn in 2008 complete with shady overhangs and automatic waterers next to luscious pastures guarded by llamas and safe fences. We breed our quality females to a variety of top-of-the-line herdsires in order to diversify our herd and consistently improve our herd quality. We have some very nice huacaya alpacas for sale and also welcome boarders whose animals will get our full time, personal attention and the best of care.
Jeanne, a horse person and former owner of a small horse farm, fell in love with alpacas in 1998 and at that time started visiting farms, attending seminars and shows, and trying to figure the best way to start and develop a fine herd of alpacas. Michael is a retired Teamster now enjoying driving a different kind of tractor - with bushhog attached instead of a 53' Trailer. We purchased our first alpaca in 2004 and subsequently boarded our animals for the following 3 years at 3 different farms where we gained loads of "hands on" experience, all the while attending many seminars, auctions and shows. We chose Lexington, VA as our farm location because we love the historic town with its Virginia Military Institute, Washington & Lee University, and of course the Virginia Horse Center, home of The Virginia Classic and VAOBA Expo shows. We also chose this location because we have a wonderful vet here who came highly recommended by many of the Virginia alpaca breeders that we corresponded with prior to purchasing our land and building our farm.
You are most welcome to visit our farm, even if you are not looking to purchase animals yet or to board ones you already own. You will get no pressure here! We encourage you to visit CrimpHaven to see how it is set up and we just love showing off our alpaca barn as well as our animals. If you would like some hands on experience, feel free to hang out with us while we care for our animals. The Lexington area has much to offer so please consider combining a visit to our farm with a short vacation in a beautiful, historic and charming town. Lexington is easily reached off of I-81 and I-64 in the lower Shenandoah Valley, and our farm is one exit West of Lexington via I-64. We are about 3 miles West of that exit.
