Alpaca Breeder Farm
River in beautiful Midcoast Maine. Our goals are to breed alpacas with
elite fleece characteristics (fineness, excellent uniformity, and density),
sound conformation, good temperaments, and excellent genetics, while
having a minimal negative impact on the environment. Every one of our
alpacas has either won championships or has full or 1/2 siblings who've won championships, and all have ancestors who
have produced champion and blue ribbon winners. In order to accomplish
this, every alpaca in our herd was carefully selected from some of the
best farms in the country.
Some of the bloodlines represented on our farm are XXXtreme, Wira Cocha, Powerplay, Royal Ring of Fire, Alpamayo, Legacy Gold, Nova, Grand Master, Neruda, Chaccu, Cangalli Gold, Greybeard, Normandy, Andean Bronze, Golden Sovereign, and Royal Challanger.
The energy required by our alpaca barn is provided by 4.2KW of Photovoltaic Panels and 2 5KW Helix Wind Turbines, which are virtually silent and pose no danger to native wildlife. With the installation of
more Photovoltaic Panels, we will be net zero energy.
We have 4 excellent studs available. Zodiac is our extremely uniform Champion SA Peruvian Normandy son. Red Beard is our super fine, maroon brown Snowmass Nova son, who we co-own with Acorn Alpaca
Ranch. Black Angus is our black Greybeard son, who we co-own with Full Moon Alpacas. We're also thrilled to announce our ownership of Snowmass XXXtremely Golden.
In 2011, our super fine Nova/Powerplay cross boy, Meeko, will join our herdsires. We also have 4 exciting herdsire prospects for 2012!
In addition to our outstanding herdsires, we have the honor of owning
CCNF Sovereign Princess.
In addition to our alpacas, we raise 8 species cold tolerant bamboo for
use as timber & food.
Bob can help you to design new, energy efficient structures, or renovate existing buildings for increased energy efficiency.
We also have Indian Runner Ducks & Welsh Harlequin ducks, as part of our Green Pest Management program. We will have drakes available soon, and may have ducklings or hatching eggs available in 2011.
