Alpaca Breeder Farm
With 20+ years behind us of being a rescue farm/home to a variety of unwanted or abused animals, in 2001 we modified our farm plan and bought our first alpacas. Our goals are to breed the gals for best possible fiber, conformation and temperament. Outback Alpacas is also home to a variety of dogs, cats, peacocks, geese, chickens, rabbits & chinchillas.
Initially, we didn't have a lot of knowledge about alpacas and that led us to visit a few nearby farms. We learned all we could and bought our first alpacas from these farms. Initial support was important to us and our mentors have also become our friends.
Our herd includes 2 quality herdsires, a few fiber boys and mostly females with mostly female cria, plus (not to be forgotten)a couple of rescued alpacas. All of our animals are ARI registered and have tested negative for BVD. Health and history records are available for review.
The downturn of the economy has hit everyone and alpaca farms are not immune. With this in mind, we have dropped our prices. We can afford this and it has helped to free up farm space. With that in mind, we only bred 7 unproven females for 2011 --- that's all we have room for. In addition, due to other school/job obligations, it is important to us to stay a small farm.
Outback has financing available on most animals and free delivery within 100 miles of our farm. We can offer a breed-back on most of our females.
Whether you're looking for fiber animals or want a variety of genetics to improve your herd, please feel free to give us a call or stop "outback". Our sons have also enjoyed training and working with the alpacas and it is yet to be determined who loves the attention more: the kids or the alpacas. Our alpacas receive tons of attention. They are exposed to a variety of people and animals and have developed easy going personalities because of this.
Outback is proud to announce our herdsire, Ezekiel (Zeke), is a multiple ribbon winner. We have a few of Zeke's offspring on our farm and the quality of their fleece is equal to or better than Zeke's.
You won't see us at too many shows due to other obligations but two of our favorite ones that we do attend are the Empire Alpaca Extravaganza and the Alpaca Maturity. What free time is left, goes to our fiber. We were pleasantly surprised not to see a decline in alpaca product sales for 2009, and 2010 is also proving to be a good year.
We welcome you to stop by Outback Alpacas and see the future as it develops....
