The profitability of alpacas is based on the production of quality fiber. While all grades of fiber can be put to good use, the true luxury grades - 'Royal' and 'Baby' - offer the most potential income per alpaca. The commercial market for luxury fiber demands white, but we also offer a few quality alpacas in the full range of alpaca colors.
As breeding stock, the alpacas that produce uniformly fine fleeces, free from prickly guard hair, year ater year while also producing healty young, these are the most valuable alpacas. Our breeding goal is a herd of alpacas with 'Baby' fine fiber - Grade 1 and Grade 2 - at age 10. It's a lofty goal, but with the Alianza bloodlines, we are doing it.
Our mission is to become a resource for others: for fiber, for breeding stock of exceptional quality, and for the exchange of knowledge and information.
As we continue to build our herd and develop our facilities, we are exploring the full range of potential uses for the fabulous fiber our alpacas produce. And we are having fun doing it!
In our 'spare time', we enjoy organic gardening, exploring alternative home-generated energy sources, and learning and applying low-input (zero petroleum) methods of renewing the land and pastures. No herbicides, pesticides, or chemical fertilizers are used on our farm. Though our farm is not ';certified organic', we apply those principles and raise our alpacas naturally.
