Alpaca Breeder Farm
As soon as you arrive you will appreciate the beauty of this historic property, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, where instantly you will gaze out at our lovely alpaca herd.
Nearly nine years ago we found the old Cobb Estate and ever since we have been striving to offer our guests simply the best, most comfortable, peaceful and relaxing log cabin get-away possible all graciously complimented by our lovely alpacas which can be admired from every cabin.
Let us give you a tour.....When you enter the “office” you will step back in time as you stand surrounded by the original two story log cabin built in 1861 by John Franklin Cobb paternal Grandfather to baseball great Ty Cobb. You will admire hand-honed beams and the original stone and clay fireplace and chimney.
Walk out the door and you can watch the alpaca play while swinging or rocking on the big covered front porch at the old farmhouse or any of our creek side log cabins!
While walking along Cobb Creek you will come upon a stonewall memorial surrounding the artesian well once used to “keep” the family food. Inlayed plaques commemorate the Cobb Family, the Estate and Tyrus R Cobb World Baseball Champion. Ty used to work the farm here in the summers and played his first ball games with the Murphy Maulers.
Tucked away you will also find the original 1861 Smokehouse, once dirt floor and flat roof, now converted into a most comfortable cozy and truly authentic log cabin.
Come enjoy our historic property, stay in a lovely authentic log cabin, play, learn and shop our wonderful array of friendly alpacas.
