Alpaca Breeder Farm
We're welcoming in 2012 with warmer weather and thankfully not the 4-5 foot snow drifts of the last two years. We know the snow will come but we're thankful for a little respite.
The two unproven males we rescued a couple years ago have both been proven now; one with two crias and a single for the other. Their crias are beautiful and we'll be adding all to this site in the coming week.
AKG Enchanted Alpaca Ranch has been in business since the Summer of 2002. Prior to jumping into this we did our research and decided that raising alpacas would be enjoyable and profitable. We started with 3 and currently have 35. We have been fortunate enough to have 26 of our 28 pregnancies turn out viable, and have had more females than males! Our goal is to continually improve the quality of our herd by breeding with quality herdsires. Our crias born this year show that we are on the right track.
Our Andreanna a few years ago won Reserve Color Champion (Dark Fawn) at MOPACA in St. Loius after taking the Blue Ribbon first place in her age group. She has moved on to another farm.
We turned an old barn into a comfortable living area for our animals and have built corals and pastures that our property had never before seen. If you are starting out and have questions and concerns- Please give us a call or email. We welcome inquiries and visits at any time. Karen is even learning the fine art of carding, spinning, weaving, and knitting in order to vertically integrate our growing business. We have an on site studio where she does her weaving and spinning and has a lot of quality products on hand.
We look forward to hearing from you and visiting with you. We are located in the most fertile area of Iowa, on top of rolling hills at the North edge of Grundy County. We are easily accessible from the new Hwy 20, Interstates 380 and 35, and close to Waterloo/Cedar Falls.
