Alpaca Breeder Farm
Dr Ed and Dr. Ruthanne veterinarians who are well known
and respected in the alpaca community as speakers,
teachers, consultants and great mentors as well as very
successful breeders of high quality black and grey
We love our alpacas and we delight in helping
others replicate our success in breeding, in showing
and in selling exceptional alpacas. We are family-
friendly and quality oriented.
Our Commitment is to bring glory to God in part by
raising the best alpacas we can, by having a caring
attitude toward both people and animals, helping others
whenever possible, and trying to have a positive impact
on everyone we meet.
Education is very important at Promised Land Farm. We
are always educating ourselves and passing along our
knowledge to anyone who can benefit from it. We offer
monthly workshops on the skills needed to start up and
run an alpaca farm.
We also offer advanced workshops for the experienced
alpaca breeder including fecal workshops and shearing
It has been our privilege to help many new alpaca farms
get off to a wonderful start. It brings us great joy
to see them grow and succeed, even when they beat us in
the show ring. In the early stages there are many
phone calls and questions and much need for
encouragement and support. As the new breeders'
confidence and competence increases the phone calls
become less frequent, but they know they can always
call for help with a medical question or to borrow a
spare generator when their power is knocked out or just
to share their joy at the latest birth. "It's a girl!"
Our Alpacas have been carefully selected to achieve
excellence in both our black and our white Peruvian
bloodlines. For our foundation females we have
paistakingly selected some of the most extraordinary
black Pure Peruvians available anywhere in the country.
We have also selected a few exquiste whites and - our
newest area of excellence - some outstanding greys!
Our genetic excellence is further enhanced by the
extensive use of a wide variety of the best outside
studs in addition to our own outstanding males.
Our goal is to produce the animals that will set the
standards of excellence for the future. A limited
number of these exquisite black and grey animals are
available for purchase each year. Although our primary
focus is on black and grey, we strongly believe that
every farm needs some outstanding white animals. Not
only do the best white Peruvian fleeces set the
standard of excellence for which we strive in all our
colors, but as the fledgling North American fiber
industry grows and develops, the demand for high
quality white and light colored fiber is likely to rise
as did in Peru. Accordingly, our herd contains some
excellent whites and fawns.
We work cooperatively with other local breeders both
small and large for the benefit of all. C
