Alpacas are beautiful, intelligent, wool-producing camelids. Cousins to the Llama, they are ruminants that utilize their food efficiently. By comparison, they cost little to feed. Generally, alpacas are hearty animals requiring minimum care, shelter, and fencing. By instict they are a herd animal and require roughly about an acre for every four to five alpacas. They flourish here in the Northern-Arizona dry, cool climate. Just as alpacas do in their native South-American homeland.
