With Sterling

Sterling June 2009
Athena arrived during the summer Olympics in Athens - and we think she's a gold medal winner! She has beautiful, dense silver grey fiber with a soft, luxurious hand. Athena has a very regal stance - a real princess - and a leader among the group.
Though she looks just like her mother, she has her sire's spunk, strong conformation and dense fiber. Athena's grandsire, 5Peruvian Silverado, was hand selected out of the Sollocota Region in Peru by veterinarian and alpaca importer, Anthony Stachowski, DVM, who chose Silverado for his own herd. Silverado is best known for producing award-winning, crimpy-fleeced offspring with outstanding density and a soft handle with little or no guard hair.
With silver grey heritage from both her dam and sire, we had hoped to see silver crias - and we were not disappointed when we discovered her first cria up and running in the paddock - AND SILVER GREY! Sterling arrived on day 341, at almost 17 pounds, and with an IgG of almost 3000.
Athena delivered with no assistance, and has shown strong maternal instincts. She had plenty of milk right away, and carefully watched her cria. She is an excellent mother and would be a great addition to any herd.
We will breed Athena to our Peruvian Pizzaz this fall.
