Folks! THIS is why we are bringing Rico Suave to The AlpacaRosa, again!. My freinds in Oregon(Tim Graber,Richard Curanas) could see how passionate I was with insisting that they allow Rico to travel east to the Ohio Valley and spread his amazing genetics.

Wow! Norm Evans makes the following comments after conducting testing on Ricos 8 year old fiber:

“I don’t know how old this male is, but (Rico)this is the best micron count I’ve ever tested” (if he had only known Rico was 8!)
“Rico demonstrates an awesome sebaceous gland structure”
“Rico is in the top 1% of all alpacas I have tested” follicoles

here are the results by the numbers:

68.75 follicles /sq mm
10.67 to 1 S/P ratio(lower since he was 8 at time of test)
<20% secondary medulated fibers
0 = fibers above 30 micron
100 secondary fibers averaged 16.5 micron !!!


If you have been going to the shows the last few years, you know the emphasis being placed on lingering fineness and staying power. Infact, did you see the results at the 2008 AOBA Nationals? 5 year old,
Snowmass Matrix won the championship in light males. Similarly, in 2009, a 4 year old male won the white male championship. This is the future of high $$ yeilding alpacas.
Have you heard about the Maturity show coming? This will be a show with empahasis on Lingering alpaca quality.

With his pedigree consisting of 6Peruvian Accoyo Elite and Peruvian Hemingway, Rico can rejuvinate your herd with incredible fineness with staying power.
His offspring are also expressing very low microns with staying power.
Rico has allowed color to pass 70% of the time, med brown being the darkest from a med fawn. We do have some evidence that Rico produced "black" when 9 month old twins were aborted from a black dam and one of the crias appeared to be black.

Rico's dam is 12 years old with a 20 micron and 14CV!! ahh yes, Hemingway.

Never heard of Rico? Heres why. Rico was born in Oregon on a farm of mostly suris and never shown. With Very few huacayas to breed him to, only 20 offspring(as of July 08) are on the ground to date. Not surprisingly, Rico's Full Brother, Elite's Maximus, did win plenty of awards & a Championship or two, however, Rico is finer at 8 years old than his champion brother was at 1 year old! Also, Elite Maximus is closed to outside breedings. Rico's current owners bought him last year as a lost diamond in the rough. Opportunities like this dont come around that often , sieze the day!
