Amancio is closely related to Nishio, Patagonia's top herdsire. Nishio was the 2004 All-American Herdsire of the Year, and the 2007 Reserve Herdsire of the Year. Amancio's sire, Kaspa, is a 6-time grey champion and one of Patagonia's restricted herdsires.
Amancio's fleece is bright, extremely dense, and exhibits a consistent high frequency crimp.
Amancio's follicle density is well above average at 67.75 SQ MM. His S/P ratio is 12.5 to 1, and fleece observations by Dr. Evans include "awesome gland presence" and "excellent bundling".
