Alpaca Blanket Project

The Business of Fiber
The Alpaca Blanket Project is a dynamic entrepreneurial effort to create a viable market for American alpaca products made from American alpaca fiber. ABP is working with Pendleton Woolen Mills to create an exceptional quality 100% alpaca blanket that is planned to be sold through high end department and specialty stores. The ABO is well into the first phase of its business plan, and has already made a test run of 358 blankets. With each subsequent run, great strides will be made to produce the consistent high quality product needed to satisfy both ABP and Pendleton. SNIP
How You can Participate In Order to keep the project on track, ABP needs thousands of pounds of fiber. They have been aquiring the fiber slowly in the form of donations generously provided by breeders throughout the country. They have also had to deal with other expenses associated with fiber processing, storage and blanket production.
Initially, they are relying upon alpaca breeders to ship donated fleece to them. And while you may think you have heard this before, what sets them apart from other efforts is the fact that ABP is targeting the purchase of fleece for on-going production as soon as 2011!
