SHEARING AND SHARPEING SERVICES
We offer quality sharpening of combs and cutters at a reasonable price. Sharpening is done on genuine Heiniger equipment producing a hollow ground surface. Sorry, we CANNOT sharpen clipper blades at this time. Turn around time is usually 24 hours. Shearing goes so much better when your blades are sharp! Comb sharpening is $2.25 each and cutter sharpening is $1.25 each. Shipping is $6 - $8.

We also do shearing, specializing in herds of 25 or less in Ohio.

Steven began shearing in April 2005. He is patient, thorough and is
able to provide references. He treats every animal as if it were his own
and genuinely cares about the animals as well as the needs and
desires of their owners. He shears on the ground with ropes.

In 2008, Steven was joined by his son, Christopher, who is an
apprentice shearer. Chris has been shearing and is competent and
careful. He can take over shearing if Steven needs a break allowing
the shearing process to proceed smoothly.

Mariacher Shearing Services, owned and managed by Jay Mariacher, is a professional service that primarily services the Northeastern USA. Jay brings 30 years of sheep shearing experience to the alpaca community, and feels privileged to have shorn several thousand alpacas in more recent years. There are many established alpaca farms who are happy to provide referrals if desired.

Jay does make a southern run in late winter/early spring each year and is happy to travel as far south as he can find work. The schedule is filling up fast for the early 2011 season, but Jay does have some availability from mid June on.

Winning the open category in the 2010 Light Livestock Shearing contest really put Jay on the map for the alpaca community. Along with being trained by Matt Best, Jay truly has a flair for shearing and a feel for the alpacas.
